What is KnightWeb?

KnightWeb is the Banner Web Self-Service student information system which provides students and faculty with access to registration, courses, final grades, unofficial transcripts, financial aid, student bills, personal information, campus mailbox/combination, and more.

Troubleshooting Summary

  • Forgot KnightWeb pin: You don't need the pin.  Use myGeneseo -> KnightWeb link.

    • Note: the KnightWeb pin option will be disappearing once the upgrade to KnightWeb 9 is complete.

  • KnightWeb logs me out as soon as I get in: Ask the HelpDesk to unlock your KnightWeb account (Support Services group can do this).

  • If you're getting rid of G#/Pin login, why is the login page still available?: G#/Pin KnightWeb login will disappear completely once we complete the KnightWeb 9 upgrade.  It's left up for now to give users time to transition, and because it's difficult to disable in KnightWeb 8.

  • Applicants (pre-Deposit): Don't have a KnightWeb account

  • Applicants (once deposit is paid): Can use myGeneseo -> KnightWeb link.

  • Students (until their account is deactivated - currently 6 months after graduation): Can use myGeneseo -> KnightWeb link.

  • Alumni: Transcript requests do not require a KnightWeb login.  Go to SUNY Geneseo Official Transcripts page, and click the Past Student (via parchment) button.

  • Faculty: Might be used to G#/Pin.  But they should be using myGeneseo -> KnightWeb link.

  • Past Faculty: Sometimes need academic records for writing recommendation letters.  They should contact the Registrar's Office.

Login Issues

Blank Page

  • When you go to https://knightweb.geneseo.edu you see a blank page like this:

  • This can be caused by the Adblock and uBlock Origin add-ons. Disabling the add-on for the page and then reload.

Immediately Redirected to Logout

  • Immediately after logging into KnightWeb using your Geneseo username and password, you receive the following message:

  • This normally occurs when the user's KnightWeb account is locked. The Helpdesk can unlock the account via the GOATPAC or GOATPAD forms.

 Authorization Failure - Invalid User ID or PIN.

  • You should NOT be using G#/Pin.  Login via the myGeneseo link instead.

  • You click to Login, but the login page just re-displays

How do I get a KnightWeb Account?

  • Faculty: Account is automatically created for new faculty and advisors when they are setup in Banner.

  • Applicants/Students: Account is created by Admissions at time of admission to the college.  

    • Access is retained until the student leaves the college.

  • Staff: Generally do not receive accounts. Some administrative staff use the Student Profile.  This access is granted via SIAINST Override access.

Non-Login Questions

I want to view my Final Grades, but the term dropdown doesn't show the current term.

  • The "Term Code" dropdown for grades will only display a term when at least one of your courses has been graded.

  • There is an overnight delay for grade display. Every night at 2:30am, CIT runs a process that finalizes the grades submitted by faculty during the previous day. After this runs, you'll be able to see any courses that have been graded in the past day.

The SCE Survey doesn't display any course for me to select.

  • SCEs are only available for completion on or before the last day of classes. (This helps ensure that final grades don't unduly influence the SCE comments.)
