Cisco IP Phone Functions
Campus users are provided with Cisco IP Phones for their telephone service needs. To learn about the details of the Cisco IP Phones, please view the Cisco Online Tutorial. Below is a list of of how to perform some common functions on your phone.
Answer a phone call
Option 1:
Pick up the handset (you should hear dial tone)
Option 2:
Press the speaker button
Option 3:
This applies when you are already on a call
Press the Answer soft-key
Note: pressing the Answer soft-key will place the first call on hold.
Make a phone call
Option 1:
Pick up the handset (you should hear dial tone)
Enter 9 followed by the phone number
Option 2:
The is the best option for entering lengthy numbers.
Enter the phone number by pressing 9 followed by the phone number
Press the button below Dial
Pick up the handset or remain on speaker
Access myVoicemail messages
Press the messages button on the lower right of the phone
Enter your PIN (Phone Identification Number - mailbox security code)
Press 5 to listen to new messages
Forward your phone extension to another campus extension
To activate: Press the button below CFwdALL, then enter the four digit extension of where you want calls to go
To cancel: Press CFwdALL
Forward your phone extension to off-campus extension
To activate: Press the button below CFwdALL, then enter a 9, 1 followed by the full 10-digit number of where you want calls to go
To cancel: Press CFwdALL
Forward your phone extension to directly to your voicemail
To activate: Press the button below CFwdALL, then press the messages button on the lower right of the phone
To cancel: Press CFwdALL
Transferring calls
Directly to another campus extension
Answer the call
Press the button below Transfer
Enter the four digit extension of where you want the call to go
We recommend pressing the button below Transfer again and hanging up; however, simply hanging up will also work
Announced Transfer
Answer the call
Press the button below Transfer
Enter the four digit extension of where you want the call to go (remain on the line and wait for the call to be answered)
Inform the party you are transferring a call
We recommend pressing the button below Transfer again and hanging up; however, simply hanging up will also work
Directly to a user's voicemail
Answer the call
Press the button below Transfer
Press the star key (*)
Enter the mailbox number (typically the phone extension)
We recommend pressing the button below Transfer again and hanging up; however, simply hanging up will also work
To a User's Voicemail after Announcing the Transfer
Answer the call
Press the button below Transfer
Enter the four digit extension of where you want the call to go (remain on the line and wait for the call to be answered)
The party wants the call sent directly to their voicemail (they do not want to accept the call)
Press the button below END CALL
Press the star key (*) --enter the mailbox number (typically the phone extension)
We recommend pressing the button below Transfer again and hanging up; however, simply hanging up will also work
Conference Calling
Connect with 3, 4 or 5 other callers from your office phone.
Placing a Conference call
Dial the initial call
Press the button below more, then press the button below Confrn (Note: the called party is automatically placed on hold and you will now hear dial tone)
Dial the next conference call participant
After the call is answered, press the button below Confrn again - this will join the initial call with the next conference call participant
Repeat steps 2 - 4 to up to four additional participants to the conference call (a total of 5 conferees)
If the initiator of the conference call disconnects, the call is terminated
View Conference List
Press the button more until the ConfList option is display
Press the button below ConfList to see the list conference participants
"directories" Menu Options
Missed Calls: Press Select to view a list of missed calls (use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list)
Received Calls: Press Select to view a list of received calls (use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list)
Placed Calls: Press Select to view a list of placed calls (use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list)
Personal Directory: not currently available
Corporate Directory: Press Select and enter at least one search criteria (First Name, Last Name, or Phone Number in 10 digit format). Press Search to display the name and phone number for any campus employee
Using the Speaker
To place a call on speaker after it has been answered, press the SPEAKER button on the bottom right of the phone then hang up the handset
To make a call on speaker, press the SPEAKER button on the bottom right of the phone and enter the number you wish to dial
To turn the speaker mic on and off, press the MUTE button on the bottom right of the phone
When the MUTE button is lighted and red, you can hear the caller, but the caller can't hear you
When the MUTE is not lighted, both you and the caller can hear one another
