Using Mobile Release and Print Submission





Using the Pharos Beacon Secure Release application on your mobile device will allow you to securely release your print jobs using a mobile device and a QR code as well as securely upload print jobs.



Setting up and using Mobile Release

You must have the Pharos Print Scout already installed on your computer. If you do not have the Print Scout installed, please reference Installing the Pharos Secure Printer.

You will need a mobile device running either Apple iOS 13.0 or later, or Android OS 8.1 or later to use mobile release.

Configuring Mobile Release

  1. Open the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide by searching for it on your macOS device via Spotlight (magnifying glass icon) or your Windows device via the taskbar search box and Login using your Geneseo email and password.

  2. Choose the Mobile release method option and follow the prompts to configure mobile release.

  3. If the Pharos printer is already installed on your PC, you can right click on the Pharos Printer icon in the lower right and choose to “Register a Mobile Device” where a QR code will appear once you are logged in. Use the Pharos secure release app on your phone/iOS device, to scan the QR code to set up your device to release print jobs.

  4. If the Pharos printer is already installed on your Mac computer, you can click on the Pharos Printer icon in the upper right menu bar and choose to “Register a Mobile Device” where a QR code will appear once you are logged in. Use the Pharos secure release app on your phone/iOS device, to scan the QR code to set up your device to release print jobs

  5. You can now successfully release your print jobs by using the Mobile release method. Please reference the section below to submit print jobs on your mobile device.

Using Mobile Release

  1. After submitting your job, walk up to a secure printer.

  2. Open your Pharos Secure Release App on either your iOS or Android device.

  3. Select the job you wish to release through the mobile app then choose Print.

  4. Scan the QR code that is located on the front of the printer.

  5. Your job will be released and will no longer be listed in your Pharos queue.

Mobile Print Submission

Android Print Submission

  1. On the document you wish to print from your phone, choose Print and make sure the printer is set to Pharos Secure Printer.

  2. At the printer you wish to use, authenticate using either your Geneseo ID card or the mobile release method.

  3. Select the job you wish to release and choose Print.

  4. Your job will be released and will no longer be listed in your Pharos queue.

iOS Print Submission

  1. The first time you try to submit a print job from your iOS device using the Pharos Secure Release app, you will need to follow these extra configuration steps. If you have already printed using your iOS device, please skip to step 2:

    1. Open your Pharos Secure Release app on your iOS device.

    2. At the bottom of the iOS screen, choose How to submit a job.

    3. Follow the on screen prompts and print a test page. You will see your email address and an app code that you will use to authenticate.

    4. The test print will fail to print because there are no air printers. Choose Install the Secure Print Profile

    5. Follow the on screen prompts to download and install the iOS profile on your iOS device.

    6. Once the profile is installed, go back into Pharos Secure Release and print a test page to the Pharos Secure Printer

    7. Mobile print submissions should be fully configured for your iOS device now.

  2. On the document you wish to print from your iOS device, choose Print and make sure the printer is set to Pharos Secure Printer

  3. At the printer you wish to use, authenticate using either your Geneseo ID card or the mobile release method.

  4. Select the job you wish to release and choose Print.

  5. Your job will be released and will no longer be listed in your Pharos queue.
