This article will walk you through accessing and finding training resources for Qualtrics when Google Forms and Microsoft Forms do not meet your survey needs.
Qualtrics is an advanced survey tool for academic research. It is useful for advanced assessments and surveys when complex logic, customizable question types, or detailed data analysis and reporting are required.
❓What is Qualtrics
Qualtrics is an advanced survey tool available on campus for academic research and assessments when Google Forms and Microsoft Forms don't meet survey needs. It's recommended to try Google Forms or Microsoft Forms first before using Qualtrics.
Qualtrics is available for use by all faculty and staff. Qualtrics will also be available to students for academic research with approval by a faculty member starting with the fall 2025 semester.

🔓 How to Access Qualtrics
You can access Qualtrics with your Geneseo account:
Log in to myGeneseo
Enter “Qualtrics” in the search bar to find the link.
Click the icon to sign in to the Qualtrics site
Select Geneseo Single Sign-on (SSO)
On first sign-on, users will be asked if they have a pre-existing account
Select No, I do not have a preexisting account here
Qualtrics will create an account using your Geneseo credentials
Users will see a screen saying “Account Created”.
After reading the terms of service listed, click the I accept button
To begin, please leave the language and timezone settings as they are, then click the blue Get Started button.
Step through the brief tutorial and click on the blue Finish button.
You may also bookmark the link https://geneseo.qualtrics.com for direct access from your browser.
Future sign-ins will skip the account creation process, as users have already created their accounts and will only need to select the Geneseo Single Sign-on (SSO).
Granting Students Access to Qualtrics
Faculty researchers who want to grant student research assistants access to Qualtrics with their Geneseo accounts should use the process below:
Log in to our Jira Help Center and select the Grant Students Semester Access to Qualtrics request form
In the “Students to add” field, type in the names or Geneseo emails of the students you want to grant access to Qualtrics for the semester
If a student’s name does not pop up when typing in the box, type in their full Geneseo email address.
Click Send to submit the form
This is a self-service process that should add the access for the requested students automatically. Your request will resolve almost immediately after submission if the process suceeded (otherwise it will be sent to CIT for manual intervention). Please allow 5 minutes after submitting the request resolves before having the students try to sign-in.
Access for students is removed at the end of the fall and spring semesters. You will need to resubmit this form for returning research students each semester. Survey data owned by students will not be deleted from Qualtrics until their Geneseo account is deactivated.
