A Gnumber is the unique ID assigned to all Geneseo students, faculty, and staff. Gnumbers consist of a G followed by 8 digits (e.g. G00123456). We have standardized on Gnumber but you may also see this ID referred to as Geneseo ID, G#, or GID. They all refer to the same unique ID.

The Gnumber is used to uniquely identify people within various Geneseo computing systems such as Banner and Knightweb. It is also used to link records for people across Geneseo's various information systems.

Students, in particular, should learn their Gnumber as it is often requested on forms or when providing service to a student at a campus office.
