This self help guide will describe how to add a video link to Geneseo's web pages. It covers adding a YouTube video to the Confluence system AKA the Geneseo Wiki, the Drupal Content Management System, and plain HTML pages.
Steps
Adding a YouTube video in Confluence
The following will help you add a video link to you page on Confluence also known as the Geneseo wiki.
- Copy the video's URL (website address)
- Open the page in Confluence to be edited in the editing mode
- Make sure that you are in the Wiki Markup Tab of the editor
Insert the following syntax into the wiki editor and paste the url for the youtube page into after the equals sign but before the } bracket.
{widget:url=} "
- Click on the Preview tab to make sure that the video has loaded correctly.
- Click save when you are happy with the page then
Adding a YouTube video to the Drupal Content Managemanet System
These instructions will help you add a YouTube video to the Drupal Content Managment System.
- On the right side of the YouTube video you'll see an "Embed" text box.
- Copy the text from that box
- In a different window or tab, log into the drupal system and navigate to the page that you would like to have the video in.
- Click on the edit button at the bottom of the page
- When you are in the editor click on the HTML button in the tool bar to edit the HTML source.
- Paste the code copied from YouTube into the page where you would like it to go.
- Preview the page to make sure the video has been added correctly
- If your video appears correctly save your page on the server and you're all set.
Adding a YouTube video in plain html
- On the right side of the YouTube video you'll see an "Embed" text box.
- Copy the text from that box
- Open your website in your editor of choice and switch to a method that will allow you to insert raw HTML code
- Paste the code copied from YouTube into the page where you would like it to go.
- Preview the page to make sure the video has been added correctly
- If your video appears correctly save your page on the server and you're all set.
