Why do I need to sync my files?

  1. Access anywhere/anytime - A user can edit an MS Office document from their office, view it from their mobile device while commuting home, and seamlessly resume working on it from home that evening.

  2. Easier access off-campus - No more connecting to VPN just log into the OneDrive cloud.

  3. Stronger Security

  4. Data loss prevention - Hard drives can fail. Files can accidentally be deleted or become corrupt. Computers can be lost or stolen.

  5. File recoveryIf a file is lost or corrupted, previous versions can be recovered from OneDrive.

Cloud Storage

  • Geneseo computers are enabled so you can use Microsoft OneDrive to sync your files.

  • Your Microsoft OneDrive files on demand directly from your computer.

  • Here are the instructions for Microsoft OneDrive (Windows and macOS).

If you have additional questions, please submit a request.

How is my data synced?

OneDrive will sync your data as long as you have an active internet connection.

What data is synced?

OneDrive syncs the Documents and Desktop folders from your Geneseo computer. As long as the files are saved to either of these folders, they will be synced to OneDrive.
