As we are preparing for the end of service for our Confluence Wiki server, you may find that it is best to export the content from the wiki to store in Google Drive. This procedure will create an individual html file for each page of the wiki that can be opened in Google Docs.

Before You Start

  • The Confluence export process must be run by a site administrator.

  • The export process excludes blogs, comments, and attachments.

  • Attachments can be downloaded separately by viewing the Attachments page (Space tools → Content Tools → Attachments).

Steps

  1. Navigate to the home page of the space you want to export.

  2. Click Space Settings from the sidebar menu.

  3. Click Content Tools

  4. Click Export

  5. Pick HTML and click Next.

  6. Choose Normal Export for all files. Choose Custom Export to select specific pages.

  7. Download Zip File on desktop

  8. Expand Zip File

  9. Open Google Drive and create a new folder

  10. Copy expanded zip files to Google drive folder

  11. Right click html file and select "Open with" > "google docs" option

  12. Delete HTML version converted after each "open with" (you still have export files saved on your desktop until you delete them)

Attachments

Files that are attached to wiki pages are not exported in this process. To view the attachments and download the ones you wish to preserve, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the home page of the space you want to export.

  2. Click Space Settings from the sidebar menu.

  3. Click Attachments.

  4. Click on the name of the attachment to view the item and save it to your computer.

If you have several - or hundreds - of attachments, your best option is to have the site exported to OneDrive / Sharepoint. Please contact Laurie Fox as soon as possible.
