Download and Install MS 365 Apps to your Desktop

  1. You can install Office 365 apps on up to five computers (macOS or Windows) and up to five mobile devices (smartphones or tablets).

  2. Follow the installation documentation provided by Microsoft to download, install, and activate Office.

  3. Use your Geneseo email and password to activate Microsoft Office.

What to Do When Your Operating System is Not Supported

You will need to upgrade your operating system if it is to old to support  Office 365. See this document for this document to upgrade personal devices and this document for college owned devices

Microsoft Office 365 supports installation on the following operating system versions:

  • Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 Service Pack 1

  • macOS 11, 10.15, 10.14 (Big Sur, Catalina, and Mojave)

MS 365 Web

All Geneseo users can access office on the web.

  1. Sign-in with your Geneseo email and password at www.office.com

  2. Select Start new or choose the application you want to open.

What happens when my account is removed?

If or when you retire, graduate, or leave the college you will retain access to Office 365 web applications as long as your Geneseo account is active. If you require office desktop applications or your SUNY Geneseo account is removed, you will need to purchase Microsoft Office on your own. When your subscription expires, Office software applications will enter read-only mode, which means that you can view or print existing documents, but you can’t edit them or create new ones. To return to full Office functionality, you can purchase a subscription to Office by visiting Microsoft 365. You could also use Office Online for free with your http://geneseo.edu account or you can create a personal Microsoft account.
