This article details steps and procedures for creating a QR code from a website address to be used for a sign or event program.

Before You Start

  • This article is based around the use of the Google Chrome web browser.

Steps

Break down the steps in a logical manner. If there are more than 10 steps, consider breaking them into subsections:

  1. Google Chrome can help create a QR code from any web link.

    1. Using the Google Chrome web browser, head to the website that you would like to create a QR code for.

    2. Click on the 3-dot menu in the upper right corner and select Save and Share and then Create QR Code.

    3. Copy or Download the QR code to be included in your documents as needed.

      Note: Once in the Scan QR code pop-out menu, you can also paste in other links that you have copied, such as go.geneseo shortened links or Microsoft Teams meeting links.

  2. If you do not prefer the Google dinosaur in your QR Code, www.the-qrcode-generator.com can be used to create plain QR codes without signing in or creating an account.

    1. Paste your website address in the Enter URL text box and press the green Download button.

    2. Type in a memorable file name in the File Name location and press the green Download button to save the QR Code image file to your device.
