SUNY has asked all campuses to stop using DeepSeek AI on any college-owned devices. This is part of a broader effort to keep data and systems safe, since there are concerns about how DeepSeek handles user info and its ties to foreign surveillance. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Don’t download or use DeepSeek AI on any Geneseo-managed computers or networks.

  • Don’t enter sensitive SUNY info into DeepSeek or any other AI tools (like ChatGPT or Copilot).

  • Need DeepSeek for research? You’ll need written approval from Geneseo's Chief Information Officer.
