CIT Annual Report 2025
From the CIO
Dear Colleagues,
This past year has been both dynamic and demanding for Computing and Information Technology (CIT) and the Geneseo community. As we navigated a landscape filled with ambitious technology initiatives and ongoing staffing transitions, I’m proud to share that our team rose to every challenge with resilience, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to service.
Despite the impact of retirements and resignations, CIT maintained critical service levels and delivered on all high-priority projects essential to Geneseo’s mission. Our collective efforts ensured that technology continued to empower teaching, learning, and operations across campus.
Highlights from 2025–2026 include:
Digital Storage Strategy – Successfully transitioned the campus to cloud-hosted file storage, enhancing flexibility, security, and cost efficiency.
Cybersecurity Enhancements – Launched key initiatives to align with SUNY Security Policy, including the deployment of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete for 24/7 threat monitoring.
Windows 11 Transition – Proactively upgraded, replaced, or decommissioned Windows 10 systems ahead of end-of-life deadlines.
Accessibility and Title II Compliance – Established a dedicated program team focused on education, awareness, and training to support a more inclusive digital environment.
Milne Library Reopening – Delivered robust technology support and launched a new HelpDesk location, contributing to a successful and vibrant reopening.
Generative AI Engagement – Promoted awareness and education around generative AI, both within CIT and across the broader campus community.
Network Modernization – Found innovative, cost-effective solutions to begin modernizing our aging wired network infrastructure.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for another ambitious year. Key priorities for 2026–2027 include migrating the campus website to a new content management system, deepening our cybersecurity investments, advancing digital accessibility, and supporting institutional efforts to enhance student success and financial sustainability.
I am continually inspired by the dedication, talent, and camaraderie of the CIT team. This group is more than a department—it’s a family. Their passion and perseverance make it a privilege to come to work each day. I look forward to what we will accomplish together in the year ahead as we continue to serve this exceptional campus.
With gratitude,
Paul Jackson
