Before You Start

To ensure students do not have to pay for Top Hat, your course(s) must be added to our campus license by an administrator. Follow follow these instructions for each of your classes using Top Hat:

Steps to Sync Your Roster

On-demand roster sync or manual roster sync can be used when you don't want to wait for the nightly roster sync to run. 

  1. View the list of courses in Top Hat and select the desired course. 

  2. Click on Settings for your course.

  3. Click on LTI 1.3 LMS SYNC.

  4. In the Roster Sync box, notice that your roster is automatically synced every day at 1:00 AM.

    1. To sync your roster now or view a student's course access status, go to the Student Manager (this will be a hyperlink from within your Top Hat course).

  5. Click on the blue "Sync Roster" button on the far right-hand side of the screen.

  6. After refreshing the tab the students will appear in the student list. You will also notice that the banner running across the top of your course now lists your last successful sync.

After these steps, the current roster will be enrolled in your TopHat course. Students who already have TopHat accounts will be automatically enrolled.
