  • Log into your SUNY Geneseo Google Account

  • Go to Google Takeout.

  • Select Deselect all to uncheck all services.

  • Scroll down and check Mail/Calendar/or any Google Product listed.

  • Scroll down to the bottom and click the Next step next step button imageImage Modified button.

  • Choose the file type, frequency & Destination

    • Select the file type from the drop-down arrow

    • File Type: .zip

    • File size: you can choose from 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 10 GB or 50 GB.

      • Exports larger than the size you choose will be split into multiple files.

  • Click Create exportcreate export button imageImage Modified to start the process.

    • This will create a backup of all your emails. Accounts with many emails will take a long time - even days.

  • The export process will show that it is creating a file and will email you when the export is completed.

  • The file that is saved can be imported into an email client like Thunderbird or Mac Mail

  • If you have chosen to receive a download link via email, open the email with the subject "Your Google data is ready to download" and click Download your files

    1. A browser will open to a Google sign-in page. Click Continue and sign in with your SUNY Geneseo email and password. 

    2. The .zip file will automatically download after you sign in. Click on the download in the lower-left corner of your screen and save the file to your desired location.
