These directions will help you setup set up access to Geneseo's encrypted 802.1x wireless networks on Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers. |
Windows 10 Steps
Click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
You should now be presented with a list of available wireless networks. Select the eduroam network.
Now click on the Connect button. You may also want to select Connect automatically to remember this network for the future.
Click or tap Connect to access the network. Enter When prompted, enter your Geneseo email address and Password when prompted. ie. , such as abc0@geneseo.edu and then your password.
Select Connect Connect, and your computer will now connect to the Geneseo network.
Troubleshooting:
Our Meraki wireless network is brand new as of summer 2023, running version 6 of the Wi-Fi industry standard. Windows 10 has been out since July 2015, over 8 years. Original and older versions of Windows 10 are not compatible with our wireless network. In our testing, we have found two distinct actions to be necessary for Windows computers to be able to connect to our wireless network:
Upgrade Windows to Windows 10 version 22H2. This can be done within Windows Update.
Download and install the newest wireless network card drivers from the network manufacturer web site, not from within Windows Update.
Determine the make and model of the network card by finding it in the Network Adapters folder inside the Device Manager, for example: Intel AX210
Search Google for that exact make and model to download an updated driver, for example: Intel AX210 windows 10 driver
Download and install the new driver.
Reboot.

Windows 11 Steps
Click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
Click on the Arrow next to the Wireless icon to see the list of wireless networks.
You should now be presented with a list of available wireless networks. Select the eduroam network.
Now click on the Connect button. You may also want to select Connect automatically to remember this network for the future.
Click or tap Connect to access the network. When prompted, enter your Geneseo email address and Password, such as abc0@geneseo.edu.
Select Connect, and your computer will connect to the Geneseo network.
Troubleshooting:
If you are having difficulties removing the wireless profile, clearing all settings related to eduroam and starting over may be helpful. The easiest way to do this is the following.
Press "Windows key + r" to open a run dialog box
Type "cmd" and press enter.
Paste in the following command:
Code Block netsh wlan delete profile name="eduroam"
Now the profile has been deleted, and you can start over over.
If you still cannot connect to the eduroam network, please follow these steps to ensure your wireless driver is up-to-date.
Upgrade your version of Windows to the most recent release. This can be done within Windows Update.
Windows 10 should be version 22H2 or later
Window 11 should be version 23H2 or later
