This article is intended for users who are installing the Pharos Secure Print client on their personal computing devices. College-owned Windows and macOS devices should have the Pharos Secure Printer already installed. If you do not see the Pharos Secure Printer, follow the instructions below to manually install it.

Windows Installation Instructions

  1. Download the Pharos_Win_7.36.16.100.zip file from software.geneseo.edu

  2. Fully extract or unzip the downloaded zip file by right clicking on the zipped file and choosing “Extract all”.

  3. Open the extracted PharosSecure_Win_7.36.16.100 folder.

  4. Double-click the PrintScoutInstaller.exe file to begin installation.

    1. Do not move the SetupInstallConfig.ini or CustomerSecretPrinterDriver_x64.datzip files beforehand.

  5. Step through the on-screen prompts, accepting all defaults, to complete installation.

macOS Installation Instructions

If you are installing Pharos Secure Release for the first time, you can proceed immediately to the installation steps below.

  1. Download the PharosSecureReleasePharosPrint-2.2428.63.100.zip file from software.geneseo.edu

    1. Make sure to click the download arrow in the upper left corner to download to your local computer

  2. Double-click the PharosSecureReleasePharosPrint-2.2428.63.100.zip file in your downloads folder to unzip its contents.

  3. Open the PharosSecureReleasePharosPrint-2.2428.63.100 folder after it has unzipped.

  4. Double-click the MacPrintScoutInstaller.pkg file to begin installation.

    1. Do not move the InstallConfig.ini or PrinterDriver.tar files beforehand.

  5. Step through the on-screen prompts, accepting all defaults, to complete installation

  1. Download the SUNYGeneseo_LinuxPrintScout.zip file from software.geneseo.edu

  2. Open the SUNYGeneseo_LinuxPrintScout folder after it has unzipped

  3. For Ubuntu Linux, run the following command:

    1. dpkg -i openid-print-scout_2.1.0_amd64.deb

  4. For Red Hat Linux, run the following command:

    1. rpm -i openid-print-scout_2.1.0_amd64.rpm

  5. A printer called Secure-Printer should now be installed and available for use

Troubleshooting

If you accidentally delete the Pharos Secure Printer after it had been previously installed or if the printer is missing, please restart your computer and login. After a few moments, the printer should recreate itself.
