You can activate your voicemail service from your office phone, from another campus phone or from an off-campus phone. Activating your service will require you to personalize your mailbox by recording your name and a greeting that callers will hear, as well as selecting a personal Phone Identification Number (PIN).

Steps

  1.  Connect to the voicemail system by phone:

    1. From a private office phone → Dial 5999

    1. If you share your phone line → Dial 5999

      1. Enter your 6 digit ID (mailbox number) followed by the pound (#) key

      2. Enter your initial PIN of

      1. the pound (#) key

    1. From off-campus → Dial 585-245-5999

      1. At the sound of the prompter, press the pound

...

      1. (#) key.

      2. Enter your 4 digit (your extension) or 6 digit (your mailbox number if you share a phone) ID followed by the pound (#) key.

      3. Enter the  initial PIN of 123456

    1. From another phone on campus → Dial 5999

      1. At the sound of the prompter, press the pound (#) key

      2. At the sound of the 2nd prompter, press the pound (#) key again.

      3. Enter your 4 digit (your extension) or 6 digit (your mailbox number if you share a phone) ID, followed by the pound (#) key.

      4. Enter the initial PIN of 123456

  1. Personalize your mailbox

    1. Record your first and last name (or department name for a departmental mailbox), followed by the pound (#) key.

    2. The system will play back your name and ask if you want to accept it or re-record it.

    3. Record a new personal greeting that callers will hear, followed by the pound (#) key.

    4. The system will play back your greeting and ask if you want to accept it or re-record it.

    5. Enter a new PIN (It must be a minimum of 6 digits in length)

    6. Confirm your PIN by entering your PIN again.

  2. Hang up
