How to insert the MathType Add-in for Microsoft Word 365

Before You Start

  • Put in a request to the CIT HelpDesk to have the MathType Add-in enabled for you in Office 365

  • Once CIT has communicated with you that it has been activated for your account, follow the steps below to insert the MathType Add-in in Word.

Steps

  1. Open Microsoft Word. Click on the Insert menu at the top.

  2. Click on My Add-ins in the Add-ins section.

  3. Click on ADMIN MANAGED

  4. Click on Refresh in the upper right hand corner until MathType appears. This may take a little while. If it doesn't show up, wait an hour or so and try again.

  5. Click on MathType and then click on the Add button at the bottom.

  6. MathType should appear in your ribbon at the top of Microsoft Word. Click on MathType here and then click on Open MathType.

  7. The Office Add-ins Window should look like this:

Note

Make sure to click on Refresh in the upper right hand corner until MathType appears. This may take a little while. If it doesn't show up, wait an hour or so and try again.
